BikeON – Complion got on the wheel

Many of our employees live in German cycling strongholds such as the Rhineland or northern Germany. Thus, the desire to introduce a company bike concept was understandable. Contracts were therefore concluded with the provider Bikeleasing at the end of 2021. Whether our employees are racing bike enthusiasts, mountain bikers or rather the leisurely ones with Dutch bikes, it doesn't matter in this case. Bikeleasing offers almost unlimited possibilities. As a future-oriented company, we not only see the advantages for our employees (more exercise in the fresh air) but also the improvement of the CO2 balance and a contribution to environmental protection by moving without a car. This is also already reflected in our philosophy that we travel on business by train as far as possible in order to improve our ecological footprint.

How does that work exactly?

The leasing period is 36 months at a fixed monthly rate. The rate depends on the purchase price of the bike as well as personal factors such as tax class, whether there are children and whether you are a church member. Our employees can lease up to two bikes (bicycle or pedelec) and thus also provide their family members with a bike. In addition to the bike, there are also leasable accessories, such as the lock (mandatory) as well as other accessories that are permanently connected to the bike (e.g. mudguard, luggage rack, kickstand, trailer, child seat).

Our employees who decide to accept this offer pay for the bike by means of a monthly salary conversion. They receive part of their salary not in cash, but as a non-cash benefit. The salary conversion makes it possible to finance the leasing installment from the gross salary. This means that the net burden is lower than if you were to buy the bike from your net salary. Insurance packages cover many eventualities. Mandatory are e.g. an insurance package against theft, accidental damage, vandalism... as well as an employer's default insurance. This takes over the installments in case of illness or accident-related absence of the employee(s) or takes back the bike prematurely (in case of death, dismissal, disability) or takes over the installments during parental leave incl. maternity leave. Thus, our Complion cyclists are optimally protected.
