Workation at COMPLION – Working where others go on vacation...
...and relax a little bit at the same time.
For two years now, SARS-CoV-2 has accompanied us and confronted us with new tasks every day. You rarely see each other in the office anymore, if at all. Instead, you stare, more and more often, through the lens of your home camera mounted above your screen.
So it was time to revive an old Complion tradition: team events at beautiful locations. And so it happened that we all found ourselves in August 2021 under corona-compliant conditions on the island of Rügen in the Project Bay coworking space.
Located directly on a large Bodden, which creates a slight smell of salt in your nose, a small sandy beach and a lonely pier in the water. On the other side of it, a quiet forest. Vacationing would be very appropriate here.
The building itself excelled with many large office spaces and some separees, while the private rooms were quite convincing with their youth hostel charm.
From Monday to Thursday there was no official program. So it remained an ordinary working week in front of the panorama of the Baltic Sea with excellent internet quality and a slight vacation flair. Quite ordinary? Not quite. There were a number of leisure activities to choose from to brighten up the time before and after work a bit.
Whether it was a morning swim in the Baltic Sea, jogging, or an afternoon bike ride to the best fish sandwich store on the island, there was something for everyone.
During dinner preparation in the kitchen, the long-lost community feeling arose again.
The Beginning of the Official Part
From Thursday on, there were exciting activities for the whole team. The highlights were clearly laser tag, which became surprisingly competitive, stand-up paddle water polo and rowing in a dragon boat. In the evenings there was delicious barbecue, one or the other lemonade as well as relaxation in a mobile sauna.
After a week full of fun and relaxation, everyone went their separate ways and dispersed in all directions from Flensburg to Munich, from Cologne to Leipzig.
The Advantages of Team Events and Workations
Such a workation is certainly worth recommending and is already a tradition at Complion. The team spirit, especially among new employees, is strengthened - you get to know the people behind the webcams, after all. The change provided by the new work environment was directly converted into creative energy, and the presence of the entire staff made it possible to decide organizational issues and internal company votes face-to-face.
