Employee Portrait: Volker Albrich
Hello everybody! My name is Volker Albrich and I am 44 years young. I live in Ingolstadt with my wonderful family. My professional journey has been varied and exciting. I have worked in construction planning as a draftsman as well as in event management and as an IT specialist for system integration. Today, however, my heart beats for software efficiency management, with a special focus on engineering software and costly niche products.
How did you come to Complion?
Before diving into the world of IT, I ran a restaurant franchise and was managing partner of a music club with international artists. However, the urge for change drove me into the world of IT. A lucky coincidence led me to an internship in license management at a medium-sized company. This is where my passion for Software Asset Management (SAM) began. The journey led me from there to the parent company and finally to Complion AG. It was the common interest in the question, "Where is SAM in 2050," that drew my attention to Complion, and the rest is history.
What are your main focuses at Complion?
In my role, I focus on achieving maximum efficiency in the use of software, especially in niche segments of the engineering industry and specialty software in the development cycle of embedded software or embedded systems. I am passionate about being the SAM expert in the area of electronics development software for the automotive industry. In doing so, I support our customers in selecting the right licensing models, create detailed usage analyses and assist in negotiations with purchasing and technical departments.
What does your day-to-day work at Complion look like?
My workday starts with a leisurely cup of coffee and a little time with my six-month-old daughter. After that, I rush into team meetings with our clients (usually still from the home office) to plan the day. After everything is on track, I'm drawn to the inspiring coworking space "BRIGK" in Ingolstadt. Here I work on optimizing the operational business of our client, who is also located in my region. Once a week, I meet personally with the client on site. My job is diverse and varied, with regular team meetings and personal projects such as recruiting and site development, product development and SAM scope expansion. I love being immersed in these diverse tasks.
What are you passionate about outside of Complion?
When I'm not in the world of software management, I prefer to switch off with action sports. Whether it's on the water, in the snow or on the asphalt, a board is my faithful companion. I also enjoy playing my instruments, hiking, and spending quality time with my family.
