Employee Portrait: Florian Müller
Our company is made up of people and we want to introduce them to you over the coming weeks and months. Today we're talking to Florian Müller. We find out what COMPLION is all about for him, what his daily tasks are and what he does when he's not working on customer projects.
Hi Florian, tell us something about yourself!
Hi, I'm Florian Müller, 28 years old and from the charming neighboring city of Cologne, Leverkusen. After graduating from high school back home, I decided to move to Cologne and complete my Bachelor's degree in General Management and, building on my growing interest in IT topics, a Master's degree in Digital Business Management. This is probably where my current passion for web development and artificial intelligence, especially generative AI, comes from.
At Complion, I can now contribute and professionalize these interests. I am currently working at Complion in the area of IT regulation and software asset management. I also gain insights into other specialist areas at Complion and learn something new every day.
How did you come to Complion?
As luck would have it, after completing my Master's degree, I was not only frustrated by my previous disappointment in my job search, but also in the right place at the right time. Without the initial intention of making professional contacts, I met one of our two managing directors, Dirk Michael Ockel, at a graduation party. We quickly realized that our personal and professional interests overlapped. This is how I unexpectedly found my way to Complion
I have never regretted this decision. It's not just the varied work as an IT consultant that currently fulfills me, but also the family environment, the openness and the strong team spirit within the company that characterize my job at Complion. I also believe that I couldn't have made a better choice for my career start due to my professional and personal development - the support of my personal mentor at Complion.
What is your focus at Complion?
In the project business, I gain insights into a wide variety of areas and work with a heterogeneous customer landscape. My work at Complion is therefore very varied. My current focus is on IT compliance. I am currently working in the area of IT regulation for a large insurance company. There I support the client conceptually and operationally in the implementation of measures for compliance with a new EU regulation on strengthening the financial market against cyber risks and information and communication technology incidents.
Furthermore, I supported projects in the field of software asset management, on the one hand with the evaluation of a cloud migration of an industrial group and on the other hand with software inventory and balancing at a large IT service provider in the insurance industry.
In addition, there are always internal tasks to complete within the Complion team. For example, I was involved in the planning of our Christmas party, dealt with the internal implementation of e-billing and organized a recruiting event for international students from Cologne University of Applied Sciences in our office in Cologne together with colleagues.
What does your day-to-day work at Complion look like?
No two days are the same. In my day-to-day consulting work, I have the advantage of being able to plan my day flexibly depending on the project, tasks and upcoming meetings. My work location is also different, whether I'm working from home, in the Cologne office or on site with the client. Nevertheless, there are a few rituals that make it into my daily routine, such as a home workout in the morning in my home office or the train ride to the Cologne office. What remains the same is the coffee afterwards and the simultaneous check of the status quo in the project business. In contrast to working from home, I always have a wonderful view of the Rhine from my office in Cologne. Throughout the day, I coordinate with customers and change priorities along the other project tasks to optimize the customer's operational business. This can be off-putting for some people, but for me it provides variety in my day-to-day work, which means it never gets boring and I learn something new every day. In the office, we usually take a deep breath together with our colleagues by loudly discussing where we could go out to eat together during the lunch break, only to end up going to the same trusted restaurateur as always
In general, the success of my day-to-day work consists of watching the daily project progress, driven by my own diligence and a good exchange with customers and colleagues, and not forgetting the interpersonal fun.
What are you passionate about outside of Complion?
Outside of IT consulting, I do everything that benefits my body and mind in the long term. That's why I balance my day-to-day consulting work with sport. It's usually a round of jogging and the gym or sometimes just a home workout and a walk. I also try to make every trip home on foot or by bike.
I also cook as often as I can. I like anything that tastes good, whether it's Asian, Mediterranean or traditional German cuisine. The main thing is that it doesn't burn.
If there's still time left over and my head isn't steaming from everyday life, I like to pursue my passion for private web development projects or ethical hacking in order to build up a developer portfolio on the side.
Besides all this, I love to spend valuable time in the company of my family and friends.
