Wanderlust and career: How work and travel are compatible at Complion

Traveling the world, discovering new cultures, meeting exciting people and exploring breathtaking landscapes - traveling not only broadens our horizons, but also contributes significantly to our personal development. By immersing ourselves in foreign countries and ways of life, we get to know ourselves better, develop new perspectives and gain unforgettable experiences.

For many people, travel plays a central role in their lives. The "Youth Travel Trends Study 2022" shows that young people are keen to travel and want to travel more frequently and globally. However, there is often the assumption that extensive travel and a permanent job are not compatible. So how can the desire for job security be combined with a passion for travel?

At Complion, we have found some exciting opportunities for this, which I would like to share - partly from my own experience.

We offer various options for combining work and travel. Flexible solutions can be found depending on personal preferences and goals:

  • Vacation - flexible and customizable
    The classic way to combine travel and work is, of course, regular vacation. At Complion, great importance is attached to employees being able to arrange their vacation times flexibly and according to their personal needs. This means that longer periods of vacation in a row are also possible, so that extended trips can be realized without any problems. Planning should include early consultation with the team, then the option of going on longer trips is absolutely available. Last year, for example, I was able to take four weeks off to go on a round trip through Southeast Asia. This trip not only gave me an incredible amount personally, but I was also able to return to work afterwards with fresh energy and new inspiration.
  • Sabbatical - time out for intensive travel experiences Complion offers the option of a sabbatical for those who would like to take a break of several months. For example, if you would like to travel the world for a few months or even a year, this is possible with Complion. A sabbatical offers you the chance to immerse yourself in foreign cultures and concentrate fully on traveling without having to think back to your desk. The security of your job remains intact, which is what makes this model so attractive.
  • Work-away in another EU country
    Another exciting option is the so-called work-away in another EU country. For example, you can live and work in another location within the EU for a few months. In this case, you have the freedom to explore your destination country after work or at the weekend, while fulfilling your professional obligations during the day.

In principle, Complion is always looking for individual solutions to ensure the compatibility of travel and work. For me, it has become clear that traveling is not an unattainable challenge despite having a permanent position at Complion, but is actually actively encouraged. The various possibilities, be it through longer vacations, a sabbatical or the option to work remotely, offer sufficient flexibility to pursue personal travel goals while fulfilling professional duties.
