Internship at COMPLION: report
Hello Valentin, please tell us something about your internship with us.
My name is Valentin Casas Stöldt, I study Data and Information Science at the TH Köln and I enjoy interdisciplinary education in my spare time. In the course of my studies, I decided to do a five-month internship at COMPLION to gain practical experience in consulting.
How did you find out about this internship program and why did you choose it?
I found out about this internship through the recommendations of fellow students who got to know COMPLION AG at a career fair and immediately thought of me, as I am interested in information security, data protection and compliance in addition to data science. I particularly liked the compliance topics in which COMPLION advises, which I thought would provide me with unique learning and development opportunities.
Can you give us an overview of the tasks you had during the internship?
During my internship, I had the opportunity to work on various projects. My main tasks included the development of a requirements profile for the internal CRM system, the process documentation of the recruiting processes and the research for the Cyber Security Competence Center. My additional tasks included the development of internal communication trainings and the optimization of the web presence through Search Engine Optimization.
What skills and knowledge did you gain or improve during the internship?
During the internship, I was able to improve my organizational skills by working with project management tools and also my communication skills by collecting requirements in the form of surveys and through presentations. One of the biggest challenges was to quickly familiarize myself with new projects and build up expertise. During my internship, I learned how to find effective solutions, organize my workflow and set priorities.
How did you feel about working together as a team?
The cooperation with my colleagues and superiors was pleasant and at eye level. My colleagues were always helpful and gave me valuable feedback. I also had a mentor who supported me in my professional development and gave me valuable advice.
What insights did you gain from the internship that will help you in your professional development?
An important lesson I learned from the internship is the importance of teamwork and communication. By working with very experienced and competent consultants, I was able to realize how important it is to communicate effectively in order to achieve common goals. I also learned to be flexible and adapt quickly to new tasks and challenges. The internship has definitely influenced my professional goals and interests. It helped me to better understand my skills and interests and to define my career direction more clearly.
What would you recommend to other students or graduates considering a similar internship?
I would recommend to interested people, to start an internship at COMPLION as it is a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience, develop professional skills and gain insight into the world of consulting. It is important to be actively involved, ask questions and get the most out of the experience.
Is there anything else you would like to share about your internship experience?
The internship experience at COMPLION was an educational time for me. Not only was I able to improve my professional skills, but I was also able to advance my personal development. I made valuable contacts and am grateful for the support I received. The internship has helped me to be more confident about my professional future and I am glad that I took this opportunity.
